SMOP by Swissmeda. The plan opens in your browser.
Cloud-based implant planning, and the reason a case can be planned with you rather than at you — without a single scheduled call.
Platform figures published by Swissmeda AG, Baar, Switzerland. Turnaround is ours.
Planning software that lives on the internet, not on your computer.
SMOP is made by Swissmeda AG in Baar, Switzerland: a cloud platform for three-dimensional implant planning that combines your CBCT volume with your surface scans, plans the prosthetics and the implant positions, and designs the surgical guide from the same file. We plan your case in it, then share the plan to you as a link. That is the whole mechanism, and everything below follows from it.
Nothing to install
No software, no licence, no dongle, no plug-in, no update to chase. The plan opens in the browser already on your laptop, your desktop at the practice, or the tablet in your hand between patients.
No call to schedule
This is the part clinicians notice first. Reviewing a plan no longer means finding an hour that works for two busy people. You look at it when you have ten quiet minutes, and write what you think.
Everyone in the same case
Surgeon, restorative dentist and laboratory technician can all be in the same plan — not three screenshots of it in three email threads. Comments sit on the case itself, where the next person will find them.
How a case actually runs
Five steps, and not one of them needs the two of us to be free at the same moment.
You send the case
Upload the CBCT and the scans here, or share the case to us inside SMOP if you already work in it. Nothing to schedule, nothing to install.
Any time
We plan it in SMOP
Segmentation, registration, prosthetically driven implant positions, sleeve and guided-kit selection — built against your stated objective.
Within 48 hours
We share the plan to you, in SMOP
You get a link. It opens in your browser: no software to install, no licence to buy, no dongle, no discs in the post. The full three-dimensional plan, on whatever device you have to hand.
One click
You review it when it suits you
Rotate it, section it, measure it, comment on it — at seven in the morning or eleven at night, in your own time, in your own language, with the file in front of you rather than a screen being shared at you.
No appointment
You approve, we manufacture
Your digital sign-off releases the case. We export the template from the approved plan and print it. What you approved is what gets made — there is no translation step in between.
3–5 working days
The parts that matter once you are actually working in it
No scan template
The platform does not require a radiographic scan template or a barium guide. That removes an entire fabrication step and, usually, an entire patient visit — the CBCT and the surface scan are enough to start.
Guides built for printing
SMOP’s guide design uses an open, light construction with defined contact points rather than a solid shell. Less material, better irrigation and visibility, and a template that seats on points you can actually verify.
Stackable module
A dedicated stackable workflow for complex and immediate-loading cases: base and pin guide, bone reduction, implant placement and prosthetic index, all derived from one registration.
Conventional or fully digital
Intraoral scans or scanned casts, digital or analogue starting point — the workflow accommodates the way your practice already works rather than demanding you re-equip.
Nothing to invest in
Swissmeda’s model is a low annual fee plus pay-per-use rather than a capital purchase. And since we hold the platform and share cases to you, you can work this way without paying anything for the software at all.
No discs, no dongles
Every step is online and can be worked on by the whole team at once. Nothing is couriered, nothing is licensed to one machine, nothing sits on a USB key in a drawer.
A written plan travels better than a spoken one.
If your laboratory is in another country, the live video call is where things quietly go wrong. You are discussing millimetres, in a second language, at conversational speed, while somebody else controls the view. Everyone nods. Not everyone means the same thing.
With the plan in your own browser, you look at the actual geometry, in your own time. You write your comment and it stays attached to the case — a record both of us can return to, not a recollection of a call.
We correspond in Greek, English, Italian, German, Dutch and Bulgarian. But the plan itself needs no translation.
- ✓No time-zone arithmeticAthens, Milan, Munich, Rotterdam or Sofia — it makes no difference to how a case is reviewed.
- ✓Nothing lost in translationWritten comments on the case beat spoken agreement in a shared second language.
- ✓A record, not a memoryWhat was asked for and what was approved stay on the case, with dates against them.
- ✓Bring your own teamYour referring surgeon or your technician can be in the same plan rather than cc’d on a screenshot.
Excellent software, and nobody nearby running it.
SMOP is very good, and Italy has no SMOP planning centre of its own. Athens is close, we work in the platform every day, and because the whole review happens in your browser, the distance between us is not a factor in anything except the courier.
Germany offers the same service. It costs considerably more. Send us one case and compare the plan, the turnaround and the invoice.
The questions clinicians actually ask
Do I need to buy SMOP?
No. We hold the platform, we plan in it, and we share the case to you. Reviewing and approving a plan costs you nothing and requires no licence of your own.
Do I have to use SMOP?
No. We also plan in R2GATE, coDiagnostix and 3Shape. If you already work in one of those, we meet you there — see the other platforms.
What if I want to talk it through anyway?
Then we talk. The point is that the call is optional rather than compulsory — and when we do speak, we are both looking at the same plan, which makes it a much shorter conversation.
Where does the patient data go?
Switzerland, which holds a European Commission adequacy decision — so the transfer is treated in law like one inside the EU. Detail on the Patient Data page.
Try it with one case.
Send us a CBCT and your objective. You will have a plan in your browser within 48 hours, and you will not have to put a single meeting in your diary to look at it.
